Remote Rat runs between a Mac host and the native iPad app on the same local network.
Before you start
- Install Remote Rat in the Applications folder on your Mac.
- Open it and approve Screen Recording and Accessibility when macOS asks.
- Install and open Remote Rat on your iPad while both devices are on the same local network.
- Select your Mac. The iPad stays on the preparing screen until the first real video frame arrives.
Requirements
- macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon or Intel
- A supported iPad running the current iPad app
- Both devices signed into the intended iCloud account for automatic private discovery
- Local Network permission enabled for Remote Rat on iPad
- A stable Wi-Fi or Ethernet network
If your Mac is not found
- Confirm Remote Rat is still running on the Mac; closing its window should leave the host active.
- Open the Mac app and check the connection state under Connection details.
- On iPad, use Switch Mac to refresh the available hosts.
- Check that VPN or firewall software is not isolating local devices.
